Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: NGC MS61
Certificate: NGC 6639198-026
Reference: Kopicki 53 (R2); Stronczyński 43(-)

A distinctive denarius depicting the struggle between good and evil, being a political allusion to the Exile's struggle with the younger princes.
Probably the last type of coinage of Ladislaus II the Exile.
A rare stamp variant, not described by Stronczynski:
on the obverse a sun and two rows of balls (birds forming a key formation in flight), on the reverse a cross composed of dots.

An excellent mint piece, with strong luster throughout.
In our opinion, the NGC rating is very harsh.

obverse: a knight standing to the left armed with a sword, at his feet a figure covering himself with his hands and begging for mercy
reverse: an eagle grasping a hare in flight
