A very nicely preserved example of a Russian medal.
Obverse: heads of Peter I, Alexander II and Alexander III to the right, in the rim the legend:
ВЪ ПАМ₼ТЬ ОТКРЫТI₼ САНКТЪ - ПЕТЕРБУРГСКАГО МОРСКАГО КАНАЛА;
Reverse: view of canal, above it coats of arms of St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, below it medallions with dates 1878 and 1885;
