A rare Danzig medal by the famous medalist Jan Höhn.
Dated to the reign of King Wladyslaw IV.
The medal is chiseled in the background, with creases on the rim. Beautifully preserved luster, charming patina.
Obverse: a man with a woman, in Spanish costumes, holding each other with their hands placed over an altar. Above them angels and the Holy Spirit. In the rim the legend:
VIRI DILIGITE UXORES VESTRAS, SICUT CHRIST. DILEXIT ECCLES;
Reverse: two hands coming out of the clouds, holding a heart, below them a panorama of Gdansk, above them two branches and the sun with Ihs. In the rim the legend:
SICUT ECCLESIASE SUBYCIT CHRISTO, ITA UXORES SUIS VIRIS;
