Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: NGC MS63
Reference: Stronczyński 42-, Kopicki 51 (R1)

A high-grade, exquisite, mint denarius of Ladislaus II the Exile.
Delightful sharp luster all over, details without traces of circulation, charming patina.
Very high grading note by NGC.
In our opinion, the most beautiful piece of this variety so far offered on the domestic numismatic market.
A great rarity in such excellent state of preservation.

A distinctive denarius depicting on the reverse probably St. Adalbert - the patron saint of Gniezno.
A very rare variety depicting a double palisade, i.e. elements of ancient defensive construction, around the castle.
Unlisted in the Stronczynski catalog variant with a prince in a pointed helmet and a double palisade in the field !

Obverse: bust of prince in helmet in front with sword in right hand, double palisade in field
Reverse: bishop (St. Adalbert) with pastoral and bible

Incorrect attribution on slab.

For the best collections.
