Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: AU
Reference: Shatalin G17-I-1; Kopicki 7493 (R1)

Variant of the obverse obverse legend ending in a rosette, on the reverse the date between the rosettes.

An excellent mint piece, gently understamped, but with strong luster throughout.
The excellent minting quality is evidenced by the fully legible initials SA and the date of issue at the bottom of the reverse.

Definitely recommended, for the best collections.

Obverse: coat of arms of Gdansk in a cartouche supported by two lions, in a rope border, in the rim a legend beginning with a shield with a bear paw sign and a mint mark: COIN*CIVIT:GEDANENSIS*1617*.

Reverse: bust of Sigismund III Vasa wearing a crown to the right, with the Order of the Golden Fleece on a chain of 5 flints, wearing armor and cloak studded with jewels, with a tubular orifice, in a corded border, in the rim a legend: *SIGIS:III-D:G:REX-POL:M:D:L:R:PRVS*.
