A very nice, glossy piece with impeccable details.

On the obverse the initials of Apollon Grasgof.

Obverse: eagle of the Russian Empire, on the sides of its tail the initials of the mincmaster;

Reverse: in a corded border the inscription: 5 РУБЛЕЙ 1848 С.П.Б., in the rim: ЧИСТАГО ЗОЛОЛОТА 1 ЗОЛТНИКЪ 39 ДОЛЕЙ;
