Beautiful Shield decorated with emperor on horse spearing lying enemy (Virtvs scene).

Provenance: Paul Francis Jacquier Auction 45 lot 1723 = ex Philippe Gysen famous Probus collection.

Only the 2nd example of this exact type known in the world!

Obverse: Radiate, cuirassed and helmeted bust left, holding spear and shield, legend:
IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG;

Reverse: Emperor riding left, right hand raised, left hand holding sceptre, at foot, captive, legend:
VIRTVS PROBI AVG; In exergue A;

Silver, diameter 22-23 mm, weight 4,01 g, axis 6 h.
