A Wielkopolska brakteeth denarius, depicting a head with long hair in front and an abalone legend +Z ADALB(VSTI).
Boris Paszkiewicz notes the "appearance of a rather secular prince," and the legend's reference to St. Adalbert may have been a reference to the authority-care of the saint.
The coin is dated 1239-1249.
A beautiful piece with lots of luster, off-center struck, charming patina.
For the best collections.
Obverse: bust of the ruler in mitre, with long braids, in front, all around legend +Z ADALB(VSTI)
