The offered denarius is a continuation of the lion battle motif, but with a new obverse, depicting the prince with a pennant and shield.
According to Stronczynski, the type was minted briefly, which is confirmed by his finds at the time: in Urbanice it accounted for a mere 1.5% among the large group of 1700 Wladyslaw coins, and in the Golice treasury there were only 3 pieces.
A select, mint piece, with beautiful luster.
This is only the second piece in NGC grading in MS note offered on the domestic auction market.
The coin previously in PCGS slab with MS62 grading.
A tremendous rarity in this state of preservation.
For top collections.
