An extremely rare crown denarius known from single quotations.
On the obverse is a Gothic letter R and a legend in the rim, on the reverse is a crown and a legend in the rim.
This denarius is attributed to Casimir III the Great, although Wladyslaw Lokietek cannot be ruled out as well.
According to two theories, it could be an Inowrocław coin of Casimir the Great (Inowrocław bore the name Wladislavia and the initial of Casimir the Great) , or a Kraków piece of Wladyslaw Lokietek (refers to pieces with Wladyslaw's name around the crown and the letter K for Kraków).
However, it seems that the latter attribution is less likely due to the stylistic dissimilarity of the drawings.
A nicely preserved piece, slightly chipped.
Obverse: in the pearl rim the Gothic letter R, in the outer rim the legend:
POL[];
Reverse: in the pearl rim the crown, in the outer rim the legend;
Silver, diameter 12.3 x 11.5 mm, weight 0.30 g.
