Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: XF
Reference: Kopicki 58 (R5); Frynas P.8.4 (Rare); Stronczyński 55(-)

Type of denarius combined with the tribute paid to Frederick Barbarossa in 1157, at Krzyzkow near Poznan.
A very rare variety with a PALMA in the emperor's left hand, on the reverse BOL EZL AV (instead of BOL EZL AVS).
Obverse characteristic of another extremely rare type ADALBERTVS (on the reverse) - Kopicki 61 (R7).
We have not found such a variety in the national numismatic archives, also Stronczynski does not describe such a stamp combination.

A beautiful piece, in an extremely charming patina.
For the best collections.

obverse: emperor on a throne, wearing a square crown, with a PALM and an apple in his hands, a recumbent E sign to the emperor's left
reverse: at the beginning of the legend an inverted letter S, below an inscription in three lines BOL / EZL / AV and vertical dashes

Diameter 16 mm, weight 0.41 g.
